Don’t Let Your Club Miss Out | Form a 2019 Women’s Cup Team Today!

for immediate release: NOVEMBER 13, 2018

NORTON, Massachusetts – Did you know that Mass Golf offers two exciting programs for female golfers across the state? The Spring Team Matches and Fall Cup programs are targeted to women golfers who have a handicap index of 36 or less.

ONLINE: WOMEN’S CUP HOME | SPRING TEAM MATCHES | FALL CUP

The state-wide program – which was introduced years ago to provide women with the same type of inter-club competition as the men – has proven to be a huge success. Both Women’s Cup programs features teams of golfers from each club who compete against other clubs in their geographic regions in a fun match-play format.

Why Sign Up For Women’s Cups?

It’s Affordable: For about $10 per player per round, this is an affordable way for you and your fellow clubmates to come together to represent your club and engage in friendly competition with other courses.

We Do the Work: Your course only has to host a maximum of 30 women a few times during the typically slower spring and late fall months, so the golf pro is usually all in favor. In fact, we here at Mass Golf arrange the Cups based on geographic location and the skill level of the players so it’s very easy lifting.

It’s Just Fun: There is nothing better than to team up with your fellow golf friends in match play for club pride. More than 5,000 female golfers from across the Bay State took part in Women’s Cup this past season, and we want you to join the fun.

How to Get Involved?

If your club is not currently involved in Spring Team Matches or Fall Cup (scroll down for more details on each), Mass Golf simply need one person at the club to be the organizer. That person (often called the team captain or chairperson) will be the one to coordinate the players and then communicate with us directly.

If you or someone at the club can take on this important but exciting role, please reach out to Cathleen Beach directly at cbeach@massgolf.org or 774-430-9012, and she will provide all of the details and next steps. Getting a team together is about as easy as coordinating a girls’ night out! Please don’t wait because registration is now open for both 2019 Spring Team Matches and 2019 Fall Cup. Registration will only be open until December 13th.

Spring Team Matches

The Women’s Spring Team Matches are a statewide tournament consisting of 5 matches played on Thursdays (April & May) between Mass Golf Member Club teams. The format is individual head-to-head match play using full handicaps.

Spring Team Matches: April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16 & May 23 (no rain dates)

A team consists of 5 players from the same Member Club who are committed to play and listed on a set roster. Team captains are responsible for coordinating with the club golf pro to confirm host dates and then they are able to submit that information (i.e. the permission form) and the team rosters online. Each club can register up to three teams per Spring Team season. Learn More

Fall Cup Matches

The Women’s Fall Cup Matches are a statewide tournament consisting of three (3) matches played in September between Member Club teams. The format is match play with six players playing better ball of partners at 90% handicap.

Fall Match Dates: September 11, September 19 & September 26

Fall Cup Championship: October 16 @ Cape Cod National GC

There is no set roster for Fall Cup and a Member Club may use any six players who meet eligibility to field a team. The team can remain the same each match or be changed.

One of the best parts of Fall Cup is that the winning team from each region advances to the Championship, which features six players competing in a better ball tournament. This year’s Championship site is Cape Cod National Golf Club in Brewster. Learn More
