NORTON, Massachusetts – Earlier this year, The Links at Mass Golf, the 18-hole par-3 golf course in Norton that is owned and operated by Mass Golf, became the first member club in the state to announce they would be hosting special Women’s Golf Day festivities in celebration of the national movement to increase women’s participation in the game of golf
Part of a collaborative effort across the globe by all involved with the game to empower and support girls and women through golf, the 2018 Women’s Golf Day will be an opportunity to bring together women of all ages and all abilities for a fun-filled day. Women’s Golf Day will be celebrated on June 5.
At the Links, Head Golf Professional Pete Walsh and his staff will welcome participants with a clinic that focuses on various aspects of the game, followed by a nine-hole scramble. Lunch will be served.
“Women’s Golf Day has become a day celebrated across the country and in various parts of the world, and we are excited to do our part to helping grow the game by hosting this great event,” said Walsh, who will be bringing back the event to the course after seeing its success a year ago. “While we have women of all ages and abilities playing at our course throughout the year, both competitively and socially, we hope that this event will also draw participants who might not golf on a regular basis to come try it out and learn from our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.”
In addition to The Links in Norton, other area clubs who have registered their Women’s Golf Day celebrations include Concord’s Nashawtuc Country Club, Bayberry Hills Golf Course in Barnstable, KOHR Golf Center in Natick and Atkinson Resort and Country Club in New Hampshire. Several other clubs throughout the state have noted that they are hosting special events, either on June 5 – the day the event is being held globally – or in the days before or after.
In 2017, more than 700 locations in 46 countries hosted Women’s Golf Day events, according to womensgolfday.com, and officials expect those numbers to increase even more for this year’s events.
