ROCKLAND, Massachusetts (July 8, 2024) – Christine Casagrande and Anna Casagrande (Northampton Country Club) charged through 18 holes to win their first Massachusetts Mother Daughter/Member Junior Modified Scotch Tournament at Harmon Golf Club on Monday. The pair took home the Senior Division Title and the overall title.
Two divisions of mothers and daughters competed in the 28th annual tournament, while the member junior category consisted of a group of female First Tee participants that were paired with female Mass Golf members to gain tournament experience. This is the fourth year First Tee Massachusetts has been involved in the team tournament.
Laura Jean Mann (Thorny Lea Golf Club) and Camryn Mann (Student Member/MIAA) played steady golf as they made their way to the clubhouse to post a 94. This marks the first title for the duo, a well-earned Junior Division title.
Anna Casagrande (Northampton Country Club) teamed up with her mother, Christine Casagrande, to take home the Senior Division title, as well as the overall title after finishing 4-over-par 76. The Casagrande duo cruised to their victory thanks to two birdies and 11 pars which saw their lead finish at a comfortable three shots.
“I don’t really get a lot of opportunities to play with Anna, so that was really fun,” Casagrande noted. “…Had a few pick ups during the round, but just focused on making pars.”
Finishing runner-up in the senior division were Jacqueline Gonzalez (Charles River Country Club) and Sheila Gonzalez (Charles River Country Club), who shot 7-over 79.
Going back-to-back at this event, Olivia Jatzcak (Student Member/MIAA) collected her second Member Junior Championship alongside Mace Foehl (Taconic Golf Club). Having a different partner didn’t change the outcome as Foehl and Jatzcak carded 11 pars and 1 birdie to cruise to victory. This is Jatzcak’s third consecutive Member/Junior Championship victory, as she won last year at Meadow Brook Golf Club with teammate Shannon Johnson.
The benefits of playing with a parent are second to none, helping to nurture relationships and strengthen skillsets. Participants are treated to a day of fun, friendship, and good golf practice, bringing them back every year!
