TPC Boston FourSome Takes Home Low Gross Honors In Second Wave; Megan Buck Sets competitive course record in first wave

SHARON, Massachusetts – The second and final wave of the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball Tournament took place Tuesday at The Cape Club of Sharon, nearly one month after the first wave took place.

Only half the field competed back in August due to Hurricane Henri washing out the Monday round, meaning two separate event winners were recognized.

On Tuesday, the team of Tina Newman, Debbie Deeb, Michelle Ouellette, and Susan Mackey representing TPC Boston led the morning shotgun with a 3-over 75 to earn low gross honors. They split the title with the Thorny Lea GC foursome of Megan Buck, Lorraine Feeney, Courtney Lee, and Laura Jean Mann, who carded a 7-under 65 to give the club its fourth consecutive title in the event.

This annual team event was introduced in 1982 in honor of Dolly Sullivan, who was the niece of American golf legend Francis Ouimet. Sullivan served as golf coach at Milton Academy for 32 years. The event has not only become a must-play for teams from across the state, but it also raises important funds for the WGAM/Dolly Sullivan Junior Scholarship Program – an endowed scholarship that was first established in 1999 to assist female Ouimet scholars who have competed in women’s golf events in Massachusetts.

In past years the event has taken place over two days with four separate shotgun starts. Due to inclement weather, it was reduced to two separate shotgun starts.

In August, the team of Thistles rallied around Buck’s exceptional play, taking advantage of her seven birdies. While competing alongside her teammates, Buck broke the competitive course record with a 6-under 66.

“I always look forward to The Dolly,” said Buck. “It is a fun team format and today, I was just enjoying the company. The other girls played great so it freed me up to go for birdies. Getting the course record was an exciting surprise for sure.”
