2021 USGA Qualifying Schedule In Massachusetts - MASSGOLF

20 USGA Qualifiers To Take Place In Massachusetts During 2021 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JANUARY 20, 2021

NORTON, Massachusetts – After 10 of the 14 United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the association is moving forward with all of its events in 2021. Last season only four USGA events were held — The U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Amateur — and entries only included exempt players. There was also qualifying for the 2021 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and 2021 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball.

This season, Mass Golf will be hosting at least one qualifier for every USGA Championship at Member Clubs across the state, many of which were scheduled to host qualifiers last season.

One of the most sought-after events to qualify for this year will be for the U.S. Mid-Amateur, which is taking place this September at Sankaty Head Golf Club and Miacomet Golf Course on Nantucket island.

Participants must register for USGA events at www.usga.org, and requests for withdrawals and refunds must be done through the USGA. Questions about a specific local/final qualifier can be directed to Greg Howell, Manager of NEGA Operations & USGA Qualifying, at ghowell@massgolf.org or 774-430-9016.

“We are hopeful that the 2021 USGA qualifying procedure will allow for players across Massachusetts and the region to play their way into these prestigious Championships,” Howell said. “Our 2021 schedule includes many of the sites that were unable to showcase their club, course, and facilities in 2020 due to the cancelation of qualifying. Furthermore, we look forward to Sankaty Head and Miacomet  hosting the first of three USGA Championships in the Bay State over the next two seasons.”

The 2022 U.S. Open is scheduled to be held at The Country Club in Brookline, while the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur will take place at The Kittansett Club in Marion.
