With the 111th Massachusetts Open beginning exactly one week from today, Mass Golf has announced tee times for the first two rounds of the Championship, taking place Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15 at the 6,600-yard, par-70 Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
The Mass Open is a 54-hole, stroke-play competition. The field breakdown is 84 professionals and 66 amateurs, for a total of 150 players. To be eligible for the Mass Open, a player must have a Handicap Index® not exceeding 2.4, or be a professional. Qualifying was conducted over 18 holes in six different events between May 10-June 1.
All competitors will play 18 holes of stroke play on June 14 and 15, after which the field will be reduced to the low 50 scores and ties, plus anybody who is within 7 strokes of the leader. Those players making the cut will play 18 holes on June 16. If there is a tie upon the completion of 54 holes, a sudden-death playoff will take place immediately following the conclusion of the third round.

“Interest in competing in the Mass Open remains incredibly high for both professionals and amateurs and contributes to a strong and competitive field,” said Kevin Eldridge, Mass Golf Director of Rules & Competitions. “We’re excited the Open is back on the schedule this year and to be hosting a Championship at such a historic venue as Oak Hill Country Club.”
The field will include seven of the eight champions who have won the event between 2010 and 2019, including Kyle Gallo, who won the Mass Open when it was last played at Oak Hill in 2011. James Hazen (2010), Mike Welch (2012), Ian Thimble (2014), Joe Harney (2015), Jason Thresher (2016, 2017, 2018), and Mike Martel (2019) round out the past champions of the past decade who are competing.
Other professional standouts include Frann Quin, Jr., who competes on the PGA Tour Champions and won the 1990 Mass Open. Also, Seul-Ki Hawley, Assistant PGA Professional at Winchester Country Club, is making history as the first female to compete in the Mass Open.
Amateur standouts include Nick Maccario, the 2020 Mass Golf Player of the Year, John Broderick, the 2020 Mass Golf Junior Player of the Year, and Frank Vana, the Mass Golf Senior Player of the Year. Kevin Quinn (1999) is the last amateur to win a Mass Open.
