NORTON, Massachusetts – The New England Amateur Invitational presented by Junior Golf Hub, originally slated to be played on Aug. 11-12 at Ledgemont CC in Seekonk, has been canceled due to the current guidelines in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This event brings in seven boys and three girls from each New England state for a 54-hole team competition and individual stroke play competition.
“Anytime we have to take away playing opportunities it is a major disappointment,” said Greg Howell, the NEGA Manager of Operations. “Canceling the New England Junior was not an easy decision, and we know how important this event is to the top junior players in the region. Ultimately, with the guidelines that are in place in New England, we aren’t able to conduct the New England Junior Amateur Invitational in the way that has made it such a popular event. Trying to run the event any other way would be a disservice to the players, families, staff, and volunteers that make it such a wonderful Championship.
“We’d like to thank Ledgemont CC and their membership and staff for all that they do to support the NEGA and junior golf across New England.”
Currently, the NEGA Junior Amateur is set to be contested in Maine in 2021, with a host course to be determined.
The NEGA also announced this week that it was pushing back the entry close date for the 2020 New England Amateur Championship back to June 4. The event is scheduled for July 21-23 at Concord CC.
