On Thursday, the final qualifying event for the 64th Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship was held at Bradford Country Club where 19 clinched their spot at Salem Country Club.
The Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship is returning to the esteemed Salem Country Club for the first time in 15 years and the third time in event history. The championship, which will take place September 22-23, is open to all amateur golfers (age 55+ as of Sept. 23, 2024) who have an active Mass Golf Membership and a Handicap Index® not exceeding 8.0 (at the time of registration).
Eduardo Corderio (Belmont Country Club) shot 75 and finished as medalist thanks to his play over the closing 7-hole stretch where he shot 1-under-par. Ray Garrahan (Winchester Country Club) was one of four players to shoot 76 and earn a spot in the championship proper. His three birdies on the front nine were key in offsetting some early bogeys.
James Staffieri was the lone Salem Country Club member to grab a tee time for September 22nd at his home club thanks to a round of 77 on Thursday.
Chris Piscatelli (Indian Ridge Country Club) didn’t have the start he was hoping for, making triple-bogeying the opening hole. However, he played the next six holes at 1-under-par and finished with a 78 to safely make his way through qualifying.
