NORTON, Massachusetts – Warmer temperatures are finally here and there is no better time than now to start thinking about signing the junior golfer in your life up for one of the many The First Tee of Massachusetts clinics being offered at locations across the Bay State. Spring and some summer schedules have now been posted online for the following program locations: KOHR Golf in Natick (spring & summer); Hyannis Golf Course (spring) and Fenway Golf Center (summer).
“We are excited to open registration for these program locations and provide parents with the opportunity to get their children set for the upcoming season,” said Kyle Harris, the Director of Operations of The First Tee of Massachusetts. “We also anticipate releasing the balance of the spring and summer programming schedules in the coming weeks.”
To Harris’ point, programming will also be offered at William J. Devine Golf Course in Dorchester, D.W. Fields Golf Course in Brockton and The Links at Mass Golf in Norton. Online registration for programming at KOHR Golf and Hyannis Golf Course went live earlier today.
The First Tee summer programs teach the fundamentals of golf with fun and educational activities designed to develop more positive and confident students, both on and off the course. The curriculum is designed to encourage youth development and help young people build character and healthy habits. Programming is open to any youth ages 7-18.
With programs offered at the six Bay State locations, The First Tee has trained and dedicated coaches who mentor and teach the students the Nine Core Values through the basics of golf. Instructional and upbeat activities in group settings give students of all skill levels and backgrounds an exciting first look at the game of golf. Children will be introduced to the character education and life skills programs that help kids and teens prepare for success at school, at home and in their community.
The First Tee offers group lessons to all kids and teens, regardless of background or previous experience. Any child 2nd through 12th grade can participate regardless of physical ability or family finances. All we ask is that kids come with an open mind and positive attitude. In addition to improved golf skill, parents have reported dramatic improvements in their child’s behavior over time.
The summer classes use the game of golf to promote healthy lifestyle choices and build character. They can range from summer camps that generally last one to two weeks to sessions that last about eight weeks. Our 2019 summer curriculum will include at least two levels of programming: PLAYer and Par. This summer we will adding Birdie-level classes at some locations, and we hope to offer Eagle/Ace level classes in the future as well.
