SOUTHBRIDGE, Massachusetts – On the second day of qualifying for the 2018 Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship, being contested October 2-3 at Haverhill Country Club, 10 competitors from Tuesday’s qualifier, held at Cohasse Country Club in Southbridge, earned entrance into the Championship Proper.
An additional competitor who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.

Longtime Mass Golf rules official and the 2017 Andrew J. Blau Volunteer of the Year Henry St. Cyr took the top spot in Tuesday’s Super Senior qualifier, finishing at 6-over 76 in 18-holes, and returning to the Championship Proper for the first time since 2015. The 74-year old St. Cyr, of Sterling, rebounded from three straight bogeys to begin his round by birdying the par-4 7th hole and making par on eight of his final 11 holes.
St. Cyr was among the 10 competitors who qualified Tuesday and scores of those advancing ranged from 6-over 76 to 14-over 74.
The Mass Golf Super Senior Amateur Championship, which began in 2014, is open to amateur golfers who have reached their 65th birthday by October 2, 2018 and who have an active Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index at any public, private, semi-private, municipal or non-real estate Mass Golf member course/club not exceeding 12.0 (as determined by the August 1, 2018 Handicap Revision) or have completed their handicap certification.
