NORTON, Massachusetts – Have you ever thought about becoming a part of a community that loves the game of golf? Maybe dreamed about taking a trip to Europe and playing multiple rounds of golf at some of the finest courses in the world? Well now you can!
Beginning in the summer of 2019, Mass Golf members – those who hold their GHIN Handicap at one of the 360 member clubs throughout the state – will be given the opportunity as part of a new membership benefit developed to better serve the local golfing community.
From August 16-23, 2019, Mass Golf members will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to play six rounds of golf in Scotland over a span of eight days, an offering that includes play at Old Course at St. Andrews and the host of this year’s 2018 British Open, the Carnoustie Championship Course.
“For us at Mass Golf, we are always trying to expand our offerings to our individual members,” said Mass Golf Executive Director/CEO Jesse Menachem. “We have added some different programs and services over the last several years, catering to all golfers such as Member Days and new this year, we are rolling out a trip to Scotland for member golfers to sign up individually or sign up as a group.”
As part of this inaugural trip to the beautiful country of Scotland, members will also enjoy some of the country’s finest hospitality, with first class accommodations for seven nights in Inverness and St Andrews and a multitude of social functions including dinners, two receptions and a special whisky distillery tour and tasting, among other exciting offerings.
This new trip is part of an ever-growing list of benefits that Massachusetts golfers can receive when they hold their Ghin Handicap Index at a member club. To date, more than 87,000 golfers are Mass Golf members as a result of this one GHIN commitment, which also allows golfers to participate in USGA events and most golf tournaments, regardless of competitive level.
“Members of all skill levels are encouraged to join us for a week of great golf, camaraderie and memorable experiences,” said Director of Member Services Mark Gagne, who has overseen the organization of this trip through The Experience St Andrews – a provider of luxury golf tours across Europe. “This is a benefit that our members have been asking for and we are delighted to work with this new partner, which has an outstanding reputation for delivering unique golf excursions and provides access to Scotland’s most exclusive layouts.”
In addition to this new opportunity, golfers can also enjoy some of the other benefits that come along with a Mass Golf membership, including the opportunity to compete in Mass Golf’s top Championship Propers, exclusive discounts from patrons of Mass Golf, access to the weekly Global Golf Post New England digital magazine and participation in the popular member day program, among other items.
The introduction of the Mass Golf Scotland trip is in line with the Mass Golf Member Day program, which has continued to grow since its inception in 2010. This year’s Member Day program, in the midst of its largest season to date, continues to draw golfers of all abilities to some of the state’s finest courses. Opportunities to participate in more than a dozen are still available this season.
