GARDNER, Massachusetts – On the fourth day of qualifying for the 2018 Massachusetts Amateur Championship, being contested from July 9-13 at William J. Devine Golf Course and George Wright Golf Course in Boston, nine competitors from Tuesday’s qualifier, held at Gardner Municipal Golf Course, earned entrance into the Championship Proper.

Celebrating its 110th year in 2018, the Massachusetts Amateur Championship remains the oldest Mass Golf Championship open to men and women alike.
Two additional competitors, who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot, earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
Lehigh University sophomore Owen Quinn, of Holden, will look to become the second Quinn to win the Massachusetts Amateur Championship next month. The son of 1986 state amateur Champion, Fran Quinn, Jr., Owen fired a 4-under 67 at Gardner Municipal Golf Course Tuesday to earn medalist honors and advance to the state amateur next month.
Quinn carded five birdies on the par-71 layout, including four of his first 11 holes, to finish two strokes ahead of 17-year old Xavier Marcoux.

The 110th Massachusetts Amateur Championship will kick off the week of July 9 at Boston’s William J. Devine Golf Course and George Wright Golf Course and will consist of two days of stroke play for all competitors, before the field is cut to the top-32 players, who will compete in three days of match play before crowning a champion. The remaining qualifiers for the state amateur will be held at the following sites
