Celebrating its 110th year in 2018, the Massachusetts Amateur Championship remains the oldest Mass Golf Championship open to men and women alike. Due to weather, Monday’s tee times were delayed by four hours with the first groups beginning their round at 12 noon.

One additional competitor, who finished one spot below the final qualifying spot, earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.

Skyline Country Club’s Matt Gilardi tallied five birdies on the afternoon, including three in the final seven holes, to finish at 2-under par 70 on his way to claiming Monday’s medalist honors and earn entry into the state amateur championship. The 27-year old from Pittsfield will be making his first appearance in the Championship Proper.

The 2003 Massachusetts Amateur Champion, Andy Drohen (The Ranch GC), will seek his second state amateur title next month following his even-par 72 finish at Monday’s qualifier while 2009 George M. Cohen Senior Player of the Year Robert Linn, playing on his home course, countered three bogeys on the front nine with three birdies on the back nine to place T2 alongside Drohen.
