CHICOPEE, Massachusetts – Holliston’s Paul Nunez (Ludlow CC) earned medalist honors at the final Super Senior Amateur qualifier on Tuesday at Chicopee Country Club. Nunez was among the final 14 players who advanced to the Championship Proper.

The 7th Massachusetts Super Senior Amateur Championship will begin September 2 with the stroke play competition taking place at Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge. The Championship Proper will consist of two days of stroke play, with only the low 70 scorers and ties moving on to the second day. The Championship is open to amateur golfers who have reached their 65th birthday and have a handicap not exceeding 12.0.
Nunez surged ahead by making birdie on the 12th, 14th and 15th holes and was the only player to shoot under par on the 12th and 14th. He added another birdie on the 2nd hole.
Keith Albano (Twin Hills CC) finished second at 5-over, carding birdies on the 13th and 15th holes. Emil Koenig (The Haven CC) and Tom Bergeron (Crumpin-Fox Club) placed T3 at 8-over. Both men finished in the top three at the 2015 Super Senior Amateur.
Del Kinney Jr (Wyantenuck CC) and Paul Chiampa (Longmeadow CC), both Mass Golf Rules Officials, qualified by shooting 10-over and 12-over, respectively.
