At Hyannis Golf Club, Kevin Blaser took the top spot carding a 2-under 69 in his 18-hole qualifier. The 43 year-old playing out of Fall River, would be the only competitor firing an under par round of the day. Blaser began his day on the 10th hole with four straight pars and then turning it up a notch with birdies on holes 14,16, and 17. The only blemish on his scorecard would be a bogey on the par-4 second hole, giving him a 2-under 69 on Thursday.
16 others who finished between even-par 71 and 3-over 74 also advanced from Thursday’s qualifier.
Celebrating its 36th year in 2019, the Massachusetts Mid Amateur Championship is one of Mass Golf’s youngest Championship. It is open to amateur golfers who have an active Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index at any public, private, semi-private, municipal or non-real estate Mass Golf member course/club and who have reached their 25th birthday by September 24, 2019.
