Norton, MA — The Wednesday of Dell Technologies Championship week has always been special for The First Tee of Massachusetts and the hundreds of children who have been able to take part in The First Tee & Dell Technologies Championship Youth Golf Day.
Held in conjunction with the Dell Technologies Championship, this year's Youth Golf Day will take place on Wednesday, August 30th at MGA Links in Norton.
The event is open to boys and girls of all ages and abilities. Although the one hour free junior golf clinic is now full, all are welcome to come meet a guest from PGA Tour at 3:15 p.m.
“It is a special day for our participants,” said Joe McCabe, executive director of The First Tee of Massachusetts. “The children take part in a fun series of skills challenges, but we also teach them about our core values.”
MGA Links, an 18-hole, par 3 course, is the headquarter facility for The First Tee of Massachusetts and located just four miles from TPC Boston, the host site of the 2017 Dell Technologies Championship.
Throughout the one-hour clinic experience, participants are reminded about The First Tee Nine Core Values - honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
Approximately 90 minutes later, the children will gather and enjoy an exhibition by a member of the PGA Tour who is part of the 2017 Dell Technologies Championship field.
Past featured PGA TOUR guests include: Patton Kizzire, Shawn Stefani, Freddie Jacobson, Erik Compton and Ken Duke.
“It is fun to watch the kids interact with the PGA TOUR players,” said McCabe, who noted that there are always plenty of autograph and photo opportunities for participants. “All of the PGA TOUR players have been wonderful with the children and have helped to make a memorable experience for them.”
The Youth Golf Day & PGA TOUR Player Exhibition is open to families and kids of all ages and abilities, so McCabe encourages everyone to swing by MGA Links in Norton on August 30th.
“It is a special opportunity,” said McCabe. “We hope to give this experience to as many young children as possible.”
