FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 24, 2020

NORTON, Massachusetts – Mass Golf is delighted to announce that Drew Chapman will serve as the next Head Golf Professional at The Links At Mass Golf. Chapman, a longtime PGA Professional at Highland Country Club in Attleboro, will officially begin his new role March 5.

“We are excited to add Drew given his decades of experience teaching golf in Massachusetts,” said Jesse Menachem, Mass Golf’s Executive Director/CEO. “He is focused on growing the game, and we believe he will add instant value to our operations at The Links and through our programming of the First Tee program.”

Chapman graduated from what was then known as Bryant College in 1984 with a degree in Business Administration and Management. He grew up playing in the junior golf program at Fall River Country Club, led by Tom Tetrault, a highly-accomplished PGA Professional. After college, Chapman served as First Assistant Professional under Tetrault at Fall River CC before beginning his long tenure at Highland CC.

Between 1987-2018, Chapman served as a PGA Professional at Highland CC, a former 9-hole, private club in Attleboro. He mentored several esteemed golfers, including Plainville native Jim Renner, the 2008 Mass Open champion who has played on the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour since turning pro in 2007. Renner worked at Highland CC as a teenager.

Chapman also participated in the Attleboro Area Golf Association’s Junior Clinic, which brought in about 100 attendees each year. In 1996, Chapman was inducted into the AAGA’s Hall of Fame.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to be working with Mass Golf and their efforts to grow the game,” Chapman said. “We have a fantastic facility here to allow us to accomplish our goals.”

Among his goals, Chapman said, was to make golf and fun and safe environment that keeps kids coming back to the game throughout their lives.

“That’s what really gets me excited, that I now get a chance to make a bigger impact on the game than just taking care of a limited number of people,” Chapman said. “For me, it’s about giving back to the game that’s been so good to me.”

Chapman will direct and manage all aspects of year-round golf operations at The Links at Mass Golf, an 18-hole, par-3 golf course & indoor simulator location, which is located at 300 W Main St (Route 123) in Norton. Mass Golf owns and operates the facility, and it serves as the official headquarters of First Tee of Massachusetts, which introduces the game of golf and its inherent values to young people.

Chapman will lead First Tee classes at The Links at Mass Golf as well as serving as an instructor and resource for membership at The Links. With the new GOLFZON simulators now open for use at The Links, Chapman will immediately get the chance to work with golfers inside the facility.

“I am so excited about hiring Drew Chapman to be our next Head Golf Professional,” said Kyle Harris, Director of Operations for First Tee of Massachusetts. “He has a long track record as an extremely successful PGA Professional with a passion for teaching and coaching at every level, from junior golfers just starting out, all the way through PGA TOUR Players. His professionalism, positive attitude and commitment to growing the game will make him an incredible asset to The Links and to the First Tee program.”

Chapman will join a junior golf department that includes Harris, who led the state’s First Tee program since 2018, and Chris Johnson, the Golf Course Superintendent at The Links at Mass Golf.
