PORT ST. LUCIA, Florida – Kirk Hanefeld, of South Hamilton, finished second in the 60-64 age group and T9 overall to lead all Massachusetts and New England PGA Professional entries in the 60-plus Division of the Senior Stroke Play Championship last week at PGA Golf Club. The event is part of the PGA Winter Championships.

Hanefeld, 63, who has previously served as a Club Professional at Salem Country Club and The International Golf Club, finished at 5-under 206, carding a 69 in the second round and a 71 in the first and third rounds.
Mitch Adams, of North Carolina, won the 60-plus Division as he carded a 15-under 201 to finish 10 strokes ahead of Hanefeld.
Worcester’s Paul Parajeckas (Pleasant Valley CC) was T15 in the 65-69 age group, carding a 5-over 221.
Mattapoisett’s John Paesani (71-74-79–224), of The Bay Club, and Medfield’s Joe Potty (80-80-77–237), of Cohasset Golf Club, both played in Hanefeld’s group.
In the 50-59 Division, Hingham’s Chip Johnson, of Hatherly CC, finished seventh in the 55-59 age group and T18 overall with a 1-over 217. He made birdie 12 times in the tournament, shooting a 1-under 71 in the first round, a 2-over 74 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the final round.
Frank Esposito, of New Jersey, won the 50-59 Division with a 10-under 206.
Southwick’s Bob Mucha (78-75-71–224), of Edgewood GC, and Peabody’s Kevin Wood (79-86-91–256), the Head Golf Pro at Salem Country Club, also competed in the 55-59 age group.
