“It’s my favorite tournament,” said Mary Gale. “We were five over after the first five holes and we were just doing a lot of scrambling. It just started coming together and we had five birdies coming in.”
“We complement each other well,” said Daniel Gale. “She gets us in the fairway, I try to hit us close. She’s a great putter. All around one of us in play off the tee and we can always go from there.”
With mixed teams, the format for the Mother and Son is an 18-hole alternate shot at 40% of the players handicaps. Both players tee off from their respective tees, with participants selecting the better of the two and playing alternate shot from there. There is both a gross and net division in both Division One and Division Two for the event.
Division Two Results
Taking home the Division II crown in the gross division, which entails participating sons as aged 14-18, was the duo of Sue and James Curtin (Boston Golf Club) with an 18-hole score of 6-over 78. This is the seventh year in a row the Curtin’s were able to win their respective division. The previous six came in the nine-hole only division, with this year being the first year playing up in the 18-hole division. The low net winners for division two were Elizabeth and Dylan Archer (Country Club of Greenfield) with a score of 12-over 84.
