After bogeying the par-4 third hole, the 36-year old Bhaumik tallied a pair of birdies on the sixth and seventh hole, and added a third on the 12th hole, to his four bogeys to top the field, edging four competitors who finished one stroke behind at 2-over 74, including 2019 Massachusetts Four-Ball champion Nick Maccario, of Manchester, and Dartmouth’s Mark Purrington, who qualified for the sectional stage of the U.S. Open two weeks ago. Qualifying scores ranged from 1-over 73 to 4-over 76, with four of the 14 qualifiers holding amateur status.
Celebrating its 110th year in 2019, the Championship remains the only Mass Golf event of the year with a professional purse. Five others earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
