Shuman recorded six birdies and an eagle on Monday morning, edging the next closest competitor by five strokes to make his return to the Massachusetts Open Championship for the time since 2015. Shuman joins Newton resident Zach Garbacik (Needham GC) as the only two competitors who finished under par.

Celebrating its 110th year in 2019, the Championship remains the only Mass Golf event of the year with a professional purse. Seven others earned alternate status and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the Mass Golf Policies and Procedures Page.
