NORTON, Massachusetts (June 6, 2023) – Eight USGA® P.J. Boatwright interns will join the Mass Golf team this summer to assist with day-to-day operations in the Championships, Member Services, and Marketing & Communications departments.
The USGA has invested more than $32 million into the program since its inaugural campaign in 1991, helping to prepare more than 3,000 participants for careers in the golf industry and beyond. One-third of all current state and regional golf association staff members are alumni of the Boatwright program, including 21 AGA executive directors and 17 USGA staff members.
“The Boatwright Program has and continues to benefit the organization in many ways. About 40%-45% of our current staff is a former Boatwright, mostly from Mass Golf, but a few from around the country,” expressed Jesse Menachem, the Mass Golf Executive Director/CEO. “We’ve got an incredible balance of talent. I think it’s always beneficial to have that within a class, especially since we have eight individuals, as Boatwright interns, to show the lay of the land and provide a little bit about our culture and style. It’s going to keep them busy, and it’s going to have value to our Operations and Services, and hopefully, will be a win-win at the end of the 2024 season.”
