NORTON, Massachusetts – Youth on Course participants enjoy affordable access to 31 golf courses across the state of Massachusetts, but none of those courses hosted quite as many rounds as Norwood Country Club in 2023. Per figures provided by Youth on Course, Norwood hosted an incredible 3,763 rounds of golf associated with the organization, which placed it in their top 10 most prolific facilities. This is no small feat, as Youth on Course lists a network of over 2,000 member courses across the United States, Canada and Australia.
“Kevin Osgood, President and Owner of Sterling Golf Management, and I, are huge supports of Youth On Course,” said Jay Miller, Director of Golf Course Operations at Norwood Country Club. “We are the biggest cheerleaders of youth golf for many reasons, including generations playing together, young friends playing the best sport ever created, what the game of golf teaches a youngster, and finally, youth golf is our future customers.”
Youth on Course began in 2006, as a way to take on the prohibitive costs of golf for junior players in Northern California. The organization developed a model to offer $5 rounds at select courses in the area. The program quickly spread across the country, with an ever-growing membership of youth golfers now reaching the 150,000 range.
In Massachusetts, the $20 annual membership fee gives youth golfers ages 6-18 access to play at any of the 31 participating courses throughout the Bay State (and 2,035 across the country) for only $5 per round. When juniors join Youth on Course through Mass Golf, they also become Mass Golf members and gain access to a number of member benefits, including a Handicap Index® from the USGA, a free 1-year subscription to GolfPass video, and eligibility to register for Mass Golf events and tournaments.
Opened in 1975, Norwood Country Club is a 5,630 yard par-71, designed by Sam Mitchell. The 18-hole course is supplemented by a lighted driving range and two practice greens. Norwood is part of Sterling Golf Management. All ten of Sterling’s Massachusetts golf courses are part of the Youth on Course network.
Norwood is scheduled to open for play on April 5th and is one of the many Mass Golf Member Clubs listed on the Course Openings page. As a service to golfers and its member clubs, Mass Golf is again maintaining a running list of public access golf courses, currently open for play.
