NORTON, Massachusetts – Mass Golf, the state golf association for Massachusetts, today announced the appointment of Jennifer Morahan as the Manager of Women’s Events, and Kay Kowalczyk as the Director of Finance.
Morahan has decades of experience working in charities that sponsor events on the PGA Tour Champions (Senior Tour), as well as hosting golf outings at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth. Kowalczyk joins Mass Golf after years of experience managing accounting for charitable non-profit organizations.
“We’re excited to fill our remaining openings at Mass Golf with two passionate individuals,” said Jesse Menachem, Mass Golf’s Executive Director/CEO. “Jen has exemplary understanding of all that goes into managing and organizing golf events, and I’m confident in her ability to champion the women’s game and provide exciting opportunities for golfers throughout the state. Kay brings tremendous leadership, vision and skills for what this role can be within the organization and will play integral part in everything we do at Mass Golf.”
Originally from Carlisle, Massachusetts, Morahan got her start in golf administration by completing an internship with the New England PGA (NEPGA) while attending Babson College. She then spent eight years working with the charitable causes around the BankBoston Classic, a PGA Tour Champions event that took place at Concord’s Nashawtuc Country Club from 1981 to 2008. Morahan continued to work for tour event charities in New Jersey, but later moved back to Massachusetts to join the inaugural staff at Pinehills (founded in 2001) as the event director. She has since done consulting work on top of scheduling golf outings for Holy Cross athletic teams, while also following the athletic pursuits of her children — Chad and Lily Tordone.
In her position at Mass Golf, Morahan will oversee and evaluate the Women’s Tournament and Event Program, including Women’s Team Tournaments, and the Spring Teams and Fall Cup Matches. She will also play a leading role in women’s golf clinics as well as coordinate and perform on-site tournament duties, including event management and course set-up, registration, starting, monitoring pace of play, and scoring.
“Mass Golf is an absolutely amazing organization that’s growing rapidly, especially women’s golf,” Morahan said. “I’m excited to join a fantastic staff, and I want to thank the entire Member Services team for giving me the opportunity to get more women involved in the game.
“Much of my professional career has been centered around charity events and at the end seeing the smiles on the faces for the people you’ve impacted,” she added. “That the biggest thing about golf for me is making people feel like they’re part of something special.”
