NORTH DARTMOUTH, Massachusetts – The final Mass Golf Championship qualifier of the season took place Thursday at Allendale Country Club as 17 players qualified for the 9th Massachusetts Super Senior Championship.
This year’s Super Senior Amateur will take place October 3-4 at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown. Entries are open to amateur golfers who have reached their 65th birthday by October 3, 2022, and who have an active Mass Golf Membership with a Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0 (at the time of registration).
Edward Whittemore (The Ridge Club) took medalist honors, keeping a relatively-clean card of one birdie and three bogeys, the birdie coming on the 438-yard par-5 11th. Right behind him is David Holmes (Blackstone National Golf Club), who will turn 65 four days before the championship begins. Holmes also sank his lone birdie on the 11th hole.
Al Chase (The International) will also make his Super Senior Amateur debut, rallying with an even-par 36 on the front nine, his final nine of the round. Scott Rummel (Framingham Country Club) also carded an even-par score, his one the back nine to qualify.
David Jubinville (Orchards Golf Club) made four birdie, including on holes 11 and 12, to clinch a spot in he championship. Art Conley (Maplegate Country Club), 74, is the oldest qualifier in the field to advance as he made birdie on hole 18 to help him break 80, with a 79.
John Crook (Cape Cod National), a Mass Golf Volunteer who serves on the Board of Directors, qualified with a score of 81.
