NORTON, Massachusetts – Two Massachusetts PGA professionals have been selected by Global Golf Post as among the best in the country. Eric Mabee, the Head Golf Professional at Country Club of Pittsfield, and Chris Tallman, General Manager of Orchards Golf Club, made the Honorable Mention list.
The publication selected 77 individuals for its 2022 PGA of America All-Pro teams and divided them into First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention. Each professional had to be classified A-1 (head golf professional at a golf course), A-4 (director of golf at a golf course) or A-13 (general manager).
Mabee’s signature victory in 2021 was capturing the Northeastern New York PGA Stroke Play Championship and ending the 10-year reign of Saratoga Spa assistant pro Scott Berliner. Mabee also made the cut at the Mass Open (finishing 33rd overall) and finished in the top 64 at the PGA National Championship.
Tallman finished runner-up in the Connecticut PGA Professional Championship, an event he’s one twice previously. Tallman fell to Bob Mucha on the second playoff hole after Mucha made a 14-footer. The Orchards also hosted the 2021 Massachusetts Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship and will host the 119th Massachusetts Women’s Amateur Championship in August as part of its centennial celebration.
Mass Golf salutes these professionals for playing at a high level while also balancing all of the duties that come with their jobs.
While Mabee and Tallman were the only professionals from a Mass Golf Member Club selected, two other noted named were recognized on the PGA of America All-Pro teams.
Jason Caron, who grew up on Cape Cod, made the Second Team after making the cut at the PGA Professional Championship. The Head Golf Professional at Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, New York (Long Island), also finished top 10 in the National Stroke Play Championship.
Rob Labritz, winner of the 2021 Mass Open, was among the First Team selections. Labritz, the Director of Golf at GlenArbor (Bedford Hills, New York), played in the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course. He also won the Metropolitan Sectional Championship and was Top 10 at the PGA Professional Championship and Senior PGA Professional Championship. Labritz also earned his PGA TOUR Champions card for the 2022 season.
