NORTON, Massachusetts – Golfers representing Mass Golf will be participating in the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike this fall to raise money and awareness for Youth on Course, the national program offered by Mass Golf that provides youth with access to affordable golf and life-changing opportunities.

“It is important that we continue to share the message of just how impactful programs like these are for the future of the game,” said Jesse Menachem, Mass Golf’s Executive Director/CEO. “The challenge of hiking 100 holes in one day is an incredible experience, but that comes secondary for the team. It is all about the donations and ensuring that everything goes right back to making the game of golf more accessible for families and youth across the Commonwealth.”
This year, the event will coincide with Youth on Course’s National Hike Day on September 27 and Mass Golf hikers will once again play 100 holes at The Links at Mass Golf in Norton. Additionally, there is a second hike day the following Monday, October 4 at Chelmsford Country Club for more participants who wish to get involved.
“Last year’s event was a tremendous success and we are excited to build upon that with more hikers and an additional facility to accommodate the volume of golf that will be played,” said Menachem. “We look forward to welcoming some new members to Team Mass Golf and to have some volunteer involvement from our community to support the hikers on those days.”
Youth on Course brings affordable course access to youth golfers throughout Massachusetts. The $15 annual membership fee gives youth golfers ages 6-18 access to play at any participating course throughout the Bay State and across the country for only $5 per round. When Juniors join Youth on Course through Mass Golf, they will also become Mass Golf members.
Last year, Mass Golf hikers raised over $23,000 collectively to support Youth on Course in Massachusetts when they participated in the 100 Hole Hike. This year, the goal is to increase that donation to over $50,000 and LPGA Professional, Alison Walshe, has joined Team Mass Golf to help raise awareness and support the fundraising efforts.
“I can’t wait to be a “hiker” in this year’s 100 Hole Hike for Youth on Course,” said Walshe. “To help raise funds and awareness towards an organization that’s mission is to help young people have access as well as opportunities in golf is something I couldn’t be happier to be a part of. I’m hoping to rally support from friends and play 100 holes that make a real difference!”
Walshe enjoyed many wins early in her playing career in Massachusetts and was a fixture atop the leaderboard for several years. Playing her collegiate golf at the University of Arizona, she was a three-time All-American. Among her greatest Amateur accomplishments, Walshe was a member of the victorious 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup Team, and played for the U.S. World Amateur Championship team. After turning professional in 2009, she continues to play on the LPGA Tour and has recently relocated back to Massachusetts.
Team Mass Golf has started fundraising and will be accepting donations until Tuesday, October 13, 2021. To support Youth on Course, you can pledge any amount towards any golfer in the link below.
